So, I signed up for NaNoWriMo about three years ago and never got further than a chapter into my story. Today, as I was sitting at work, I suddenly remembered about it and that it started in November. And one of the story ideas that had been sitting nascent in my brain for years suddenly sprung into full life and started battering at my skull, begging to be let out for the love of God Montressor. So I renewed my account and posted my story summary. I think I can do this. It won't be easy and I'm sure there will be times when I'll be desparately trying to catch up on the average of 1,666 words I'll have to write each day, but even if I fail, I can say I tried.

    No Word

A man comes home from work and finds the house deserted. This is odd
because his wife of ten years is usually home at this time of day, but he doesn't
worry too much, figuring that she just stepped out. But she doesn't
come back that night. Or the next. He tries filing a missing persons
report, but is told that without signs of foul play, they can't do much
for him. There's no note. She didn't take any of her clothes or money
with her. There's no word. As the days pass, he almost wants to give up
hope. His friends tell him to move on. The police tell him that there's
no indication she didn't leave on her own. His lawyer tells him to just
be grateful that she didn't decide to take everything when she left.
But he knows her. And he knows that he can't live without her. And so,
he quests to find her. Even if it turns out that she's dead, or that
she left him, he needs to know and he needs to understand.

I have the beginning and the end mapped out in my head. I know a few of the plot twists and reasons why he can't just hire a private investigator. ^_^ I'll probably horribly screw up the missing persons info, but I can always just pass that off as him getting an officer who just didn't want to deal with him. I can do this... I know I can.
