  • Memories and Oblivion

I was cleaning up my room and I came upon a poem that Sarah Coles gave me back in high school.

    I Sought Oblivion

I sought oblivion — and I found you
    Like a satyr bathing
    in the morning dew
    Like an unwanted chestnut
    in a brain-fried stew
I sought chaos — and I found you.

I wanted surcease — and there you were
    Like a kitten wrapped
    in a tiger's fur.
    Like a prophet who preached
    but was never quite sure.
I wanted illusion — and there you were.

I floundered in darkness — and lo! you lay
    like a trollop rolling
    in a mound of hay.
like the mime who didn't know
    what to say.
I floundered in shadows — and lo! you lay.

    I searched and I wanted
    I foundered and flew
    but wherever I wandered
    I know I'll find you.

  • Hi "FuzzyBoots",

This seems to be the only way I can thank you for your answer and comments to my question:

    http://scifi.stackexchange.com/questions/52840/trying-to-identify-80s-or-older-sci-fi-movie-with-a-citadel-a-robot-and-a-so

Stackexchange.com does not seem to have ANY user messaging.

Indeed, "The Shape of Things to Come" is the movie that I was looking for. I was really thrilled to read the answer, couldn't believe finally found it after that many years! :-) It was an interesting memory experiment to watch it again, after seeing it just once about 30 years ago. Amazing how little the memory faded.

    Re:

"FWIW, the user posted a (now-deleted) "answer" that this was indeed the correct movie. – FuzzyBoots Jan 21 at 16:43"

Indeed, I posted a "thank you" note on the web, but the system deleted it. Apparently, I cannot post any "comments" until some "reputation score" gets over 50, and cannot post in the "answer" section as a "thank_you" is not an answer. Thus, here is a personalized thank you note. :-)

Really appreciate, thank you! Kind regards,

    user24445

  • I'm glad that worked for you, user24445. You actually can generally comment on any answer on a question that you've put it to thank the person, even with a low reputation, but it looks like you'd logged in under a different name and posted an answer. If you log in under your original account (they have ways to retrieve your password, or to merge a new account with the old one), you can post a comment and accept the answer by clicking the checkmark. The latter will even get you points. ^_^ And as it is, you're over the threshold for comments now.

Anyhow, I hope that you might have set things up so this will get you you.
